Thats the wiring digram i have used.
Fuse to + battery the other to relay, put the supply for switch live to switch on same relay as fused wire.
The earth from relay goes to - battery out put live from neons to relay and neons to - battery
output live from switch to relay.
So why do they not come on? Does it matter which prong bit on the relay i attach each wire to or not?

ok the relay should have numbers next to the pins....
#85 goes to the output of your switch
#86 goes to ground
#30 goes to your battery +ve terminal (+12V)
#87 goes to your neons
try feeding your switch from an ignition +ve supply as the way you are feeding your switch at the moment may be drawing most of your current from pin #30 meaning there is no power getting to the neons.

it said the numbers on it but didnt know which one went where, as for a diagram cudnt really see one.
