ok, im trying to decide whether to go for a BFO cone or a pipercross viper. obviously the viper is alot more pricey, but is it worth shelling out the extra cash. opinions please!!

what engine have you got anything less than a 1.6 and no point with the viper IMO

Basically the BFO makes alot of noise, but will lose you power. £70
The Viper isnt as loud, but is a nicer tone, and will gain u power. £250
No point in either really. Better off with a K+N panel filter, modified air box and cold air feeds. £30. job done.

1st thing is the cost, £250 and you get the same amount out of a drilled airbox with a price of between £20 - £40 for filter.2nd thing someone on (forget who it was) proved the difference between a drilled airbox and a viper and there wasnt a lot in it
wonder how many more times this week a question along these lines will pop up

on my 1.6 16v i have had a k&n,piperx, and pvd bfo cone
ive recently brought a viper and the viper is wicked i must say the car is better, no way can you feel any power difference not on the road anyway as you wouyld'nt from any filter.
but the response and efficiency of the car has changed radically, personally they are no way worth the money but i thought fuck it lol  got bit cheaper anyway
id say drill the airbox and put panel in and u could even rub down the air box and paint it to make it look good

Power gains/losses are negligible with an induction kit.
If you're in any doubt, stick to the standard airbox and fit a decent foam panel filter - PVD or Pipercross and not a shit cotton-gauze one.
I've currently got a Viper and I'll have one on my next engine. I recently swapped it over for a BFO-style filter to see if it was much louder and there wasn't a great deal of difference in how the car drove.
A Viper with a well-placed cold air feed will always be better than the standard airbox with it's tiny air feed - if you can afford it then go for it.
If you want to turn heads, then get a BFO - drilled air boxes just don't sound as good, regardless of how effective they might be.
Anyway, induction kits look a lot better under the engine bay than a standard air box.
