I got to take my car to Manchester this weekend to get my new engine fitted Thing is, the one in there at the moment is pretty screwed, it stalls every time i put the clutch down and is leaking water and oil real bad. I think im gonna try and drive it there anyway, with an AA membership card by my side ( ) but will my car fit on a tow truck? The front is about 2 1/2" off the ground. Otherwise, how else could i get my car there? Can you hire trailers that it would fit on, or could I get towed there if my engine packs up half way by my mum and a tow rope?

ull have to take ur front and rear bumper off if ur going with aa, as it will catch just driving into that tow bar and when it lifts it will catch the rear at the back as well, best getting ur mum or a m8 to follow u with a tow-rope

dont think the old bill would be very impressed if you were being towed on the motorway.
Can you not take your bumpers/skirts off and put it on a tow truck

front bumper is smoothed into the arches, and is double skinned fiberglass - secured on with the first, and then fibreglassed over the top - it would take ages and cost loads to get it taken off and on again!

Thats what a guy suggested to me who works for a towing place. Said i could hire a trailer, jack car up, bring trailer under the front, chuck the wheels, jack up the back and reverse trailer back more. Sounds pretty dodgy though! Or find a big ledge and drive straight onto it down ramps or something?

Put the original springs on it? That would let you do anything, even offroading!
