My computer died, so some bloke came and fixed it.
He has done such a shit job He managed to wipe our hardrive, then told us there was nothing he could do to save anything on there. Which is bullshit because it was fine before he took it away.
All the settings fucked, ive lost 400 music files, approx 100 photos and i never saved any of it because i just assumed that this guy wasnt going to fuck my computer up.
Can any of you guys help? Ive lost my photosuite program, kazaa lite, my creative music player and a few other things.
Does anyone know where i can get them from
Thankx

Even if he's formatted it might be possible to get things back, if you don't use it too much a lot of the old data will still be present and recoverable. You only need run software to find it.

If it was formatted & then re-installed over, it would be hard to get anything back!
he probably installed yahoo thinking he was doing you a 'favour'
next time, post it up to me I'll sort it out for nothin & if I do need to re-install everything I'll check with ya first & back it all up aswell!
this bloke must of been a grade-A gimp!

Heard something somewhere that every file after it has been used, leaves a tatoo on your hard drive that don't take any space up, if your really good, you should be able to find all the files

Agree mate,I work with computers and where I work we are constantly formatting Pc's. So many times we have formatted a PC then the owner decides they want there work back.
He should of told you first that he was formatting the pc but you should of taken a backup of your important work especially if you sent your pc away.

This is why I want it back because if he gives it to my parents ... I am dead.

Its not a tatoo
All files are catalogued on the drive. Deleting a file simply removes the entry from the catalogue. The file still exists, but as the file system has no record of it, it won't show you it. You need special software (such as Getdataback) to read the parts of the drive which are still used but no recorded as such.
Out of interest - where is your other drive? It is still your property?!

I dont know where it is, which worries me.
I want the drive back because if this guy has been a bit dodgy and goes onto my pc and looks through my drive he's gunna find all sorts of stuff i'd rather no one saw.
