Filming for this will take place on 11th April 2004, sunday B&Q @ Bamber Bridge (Preston). 8pm onwards. [same location as the Preston Cruise and Corsasport.co.uk NW meet up. GONNA BE BIG!
Programme name: Midnight clubs of the North West – a retrospective of the modified motor culture.
Aims of the programme: Our aims for this programme are the following….
To provide a detailed and revealing documentary charting the alternative scene known as the midnight clubs.
To display both the views of ‘cruisers*’ and of the local police constabulary.
To remain as impartial as possible as to which ‘side’ we are on in the debate of cruisers Vs the fuzz**.
To ensure that the programme is entertaining throughout for the viewers who have little or no interest in the programme’s content.
Programme outline:
The programme is going to begin with a text based warning of the programme’s content, this will basically warn that the programme makers do not condone any of the illegal behaviour featured in the programme and cannot be held responsible for any injury or death caused by imitating the acts viewed.
The first few seconds of the programme will see a narrator introduce the scene we are featuring and explain some of the terms to be utilised within the programme, this will be set over a collage of visuals featuring many of the streetracing and modified car engines/bodies we will be filming over the forthcoming weeks.
The first main part of the programme will feature two short interviews with cruisers, one of which will be wuddzy of wizard performance, they will be showing us around their cars, telling us why they participate in the scene and what their opinions of the police are , both of these interviews will be interspliced with footage of the interviewees doing burnouts and donuts and shots of their personal modifications.
After the first section we will have a small subsection (possibly footage of an illegal streetrace) which will conjoin with the secons major section , an interview with an established local police constable who will answer questions on the subject of the dubious legality of cruising, safety tips and a chance for him to set the record straight on the police’s view of cruisers once and for all.
The second subsection will be a further collage of local cruise footage, accompanied by a pumping hip hop soundtrack and several short verbal shots of cruisers sharing their views with us.
The final section will be a conclusionary one which will feature still shots of cruising and streetracing accompanied by on-screen text in a list format detailing the illegalities of cruising and several statistical facts on the subject. We will then thank the people who were involved in the production.
*Cruisers are persons who engage in the act of driving modified cars.
