right today i took off my clock n center heater panel 2 b sprayed
only i sanded it too much with wet n dry sandpaper.
so when it was sprayed u can see all the scratches under it n it looks a right mess
then it wasnt dried properly when tried to put it bak in an theres finger prints all over it
has any one got any ideas how i could make it better when i start again?

ps. after i looked in the corsa manual n it said nothing about sanding it
whoops!

prep work is the key to good bodywork/spraying

rub it all down and start from scratch but this time take as long as needed to do it and not try to rush it to get it done in one day

use something called filler primer. it will give a smooth finnish and no need to sandpaper

Then leave it to dry properly, then spray with your colour, then leave to dry, then maybe laquer it

dont rush to put it back in, you'll only ruin it, you can drive without it there

You didn't sand too much, you used a wet and dry paper that was too course. Do you know what grade paper you used?

i used a very fine wire wool to key the surface then clean it up with meths n dry it with paper towl of kitchen towel then spray it with primer few coats so on n so forth but you got to leave it to dry dor a long time i left mine a week n then put it in the car n you could still smell the stuff drying for weeks in the car lol

Thats too harsh, use 240 to start, then go to 800 to get all the scratches from the 240 out.

You don't need to get the paint off, just rub it with 800grade until its smooth, and then paint over it

After you have done that three or four times, get some Cellulose Thinners, it will melt the paint and rub off.

there is no need to get the old paint off, it actually provides a good base for the new paint.

yeh u can get 120, and even 80. But i wouldnt reccomend using them. Do what i said, smooth down the paint which is already there, it'll act as a filler in the scratches

she WILL need to get the old paint off if there are visible scratchs through it and into the plastic.
You will need to use a finer grade paper as said to get it properly smooth and then clean it with meths proior to spraying. Best to leave it to fry for 12 hours or so before refitting aswell.

No you don't need to get down to the plastic, even if its scratched, the paint acts as a filler. in the same way that if you have a dent you fill it and spray over it.
