people say atleast 2 weeks...although austin(richie) said he had an ipod with loads of tunes, wacked the car in a garage with a air feed for the exhaust, left the car running and left the tune playing for hours and hours.
Or someone else said, that if you gave the sub a certain sinewave frequency for a few hours, it will do the same as bedding it in for the 2 weeks etc etc
Although personally, i would leave it 2 week at low volume, then slowly increase over the next month or so. Thats what my mate did, and he has no probs was so ever and his JLs sound sweet as

no, you would want a few (2-4hrs) good hours everyday atleast for 2weeks .
no not 2 weeks solid would be alittle overkill
As for volume, if it only goes up to 35, then i would say 10 max, then ease it slowly after that for the next few weeks (from the initial 2 weeks). And yes, turn all gains down etc
although, im sure adi/richie will be more clued up with running in periods, but thats what i bneen told/heard before and thats how a few mates have done it and theres no problems what so ever

40-60 mins a day wud be fine, LOW vloume for 2 weeks then work it up over the next 4 or so as said. That way you have a good sub that will last.

so turn he gains down on both amps?? and volume no more than 10 for 2 weeksand i'll evan go for a drive and park up at maccys with the system on low :O
then 4 weeks after that put the volume up 2points every few days??
seems a bit like breaking a virgin in. 1 finger, then 2, then 3, the cock gets rammed in and split her.

HAHAHAHA
yes you need to take it little by little, working it up and easing everything to help prevent splittage...once its settled and its been easied enough, then push it a few notches every so often....
yea basically, once you've gone passed the 2 weeks, increase it a notch everyday or other day, but keeping the system all flat (so no added bass or treble on the HU and the gains down). Once its been going for about 6 weeks, you can start to push it all abit mate, so get it setup properly (so gains with a scope etc)...best bet take it to your local ICE place and get them to set it all up, they have the equipment as well

there was a setup guide sumwhere on CS showing how to set up amps etc
But a scope, basically something that shows you the wave shape/form....or the real name, oscilloscope. A decent-ish one will set you back a few hundred quid (£350 is about the cheapest ive seen on maplin.co.uk) but can be anything up to a grand and abit. So i would take it into a ICE shop and get them to do it, because it will be cheaper than buying the gear yourself. Although i suppose you could hire the equipment, although havnt got a clue where from (not the kinda thing you hire out).
edit: HERE is one that trotty did, which you can do by ear, but obviously it will only be as accurate as your ears etc. But using a scope follows the similar outline, but you dont have the speaker plugged in and you using the scope on the RCA outputs and using the wave-form (sine wave) as reference to whether its distorting or not

if ya wack your gains up, and you turn your system up it will cause distortion...which in turn fooks up the coils/ or blows the speakers to shit. And personally, if i was spending 2 grand on a system, then i would get it setup properly, to make it will stay in perfect working order for a few years etc
Like i said, after 6 wekks or so, do it the trotty's method...but it does mean wearing ear protectors if you have a loud system. Or see if you can borrow a scope from someone/hire one etc and do it that way (which will be more accurate).
When you have set it up once, have a listen, play a few CDs, then piss about with the EQs (not the bass obviously and make sure the comps have a few Hz knocked off in the 100 and below range) then wack the scope up again to check that it isnt distorting at high volumes etc. SOLVED
like i said, just take it into your local ICE and see how much they will charge to set it all up etc Plus if they fook it up, then they have to pay for it etc etc
try THIS list of sites that hire that type of equipment and see how much it would cost to do it yourself. Although it will take some time to understand wave-forms and how to set it up, but i cant see it taking longer than a weekend etc
