What mileage do u chage your timing belt at on a 1.6 16v? Mines coming up to 48,000 and i'm thinking of changing it?
Also could some recommend a good make of a timing belt? or should i just use a standard vaux one? (engines standard BTW)

i think your ment to change the belt every 20k but im not 100% sure it is better to change it if your not sure rather than it snap on you. all belts are the same i used an oem belt on mine

anything between 20 to 40k but id recommend the sooner the better for the sake of small cost compared to an engine rebuild if it snaps

Am I correct in thinking the belts are different on 1.2 16v's?
When should these be replaced or doesn't it make a difference?
My car's coming up to 48,000 miles too.

I would certainly change it then it wont snap like mine did last week
Then u wont have to spend days like me re building it. And for the sake of 11 quid.

cheers dude, i took it to the garage and he also recommended me buying a kit instead of chaging just the belt. It's gonna cost me around £125 for everything including labour

dunno why they put chains on them apparently they last a bit longer than a belt but are a bit more expensive to renew
