Hi all

Just a warning to anyone who may be using an ATM in the Guiseley, Yeadon,
Otley area. Please take the time to read this so you can be alert.

On Friday, Andrew went to use the HSBC ATM in Guiseley and noticed that it
looked slightly different. The slot where you put your card was standing
proud
from the machine and when he looked closer he saw that a device had been
stuck
over the slot with sticky tabs (it was made of grey plastic and looked like
it
was a part of the machine). He rang the Police when he got home who
informed
him that it was a scam that was doing the rounds in this area. Andrew had
put
his card halfway in before being suspicious and the Police said he'd have to
cancel it as his details would have been taken.

Apparently when a card gets put into this device a transmitter sends all
its
details to a laptop in a nearby car giving the crims all the info they need
to
go spending your hard earned cash. By the time you realise, they could have
cleared your bank account and your overdraft!!!

The police told Andrew to be extra aware when using an ATM and if you
suspect
anything at all DO NOT PUT YOUR CARD IN and call the police.

Thanks for your time

PMSL.

I had a couple trying to scam me with a Lebanese Loop device in Oxford once.

When it took my card and a woman came over and said "it did that to my card too", I just pulled the loop out, with the card inside using my door key.

Her face was a pretty picture

when my g/f bought her car she took out 300 quid a day every day for a week

by the 4th day they cancelled her card as they said it could have been stolen, and when she used it to buy food at the supermarket they rang the supermarket up and asked to speak to her

Yeah been happening round here too. A gang has been using a card reader send info to a nearby laptop and a small camera hidden in the top corner of ATM to record ur PIN.
Clone ur card and empty as much as they can, then move onto next victim at another ATM.

every single cash point i've been to round where i live has been previously tampered with in some way.

There is usually glue or brackets still attatched around the card lot. Its terrible. My bro got done in Enfield for £500, but luckily the bank put all the money back, as its their policy to do so.

I think bank workers should be checking the ATMs at the branch ever few hours or so...its an easy enough task which would stop this fraud easily.

i've heard about this. has happened in bath where i live.

Heard of a case where someone spotted that one of the pikey devices was on the ATM when they went to put their card in. They pulled the device out and then a load of pikeys jumped the person to get their device back. bloody pickey scum
