not true, after mid 1994, they GSi engine changes to the same engine as in the sport, X16XE, go for the earlier C16XE its much better, C16XE has vauxhall written on the cam cover, X16XE has Ecotec written on

L - M was Pre eco-tech
Late M - N ecotech
Both pretty much the same engine, Pre ecotech has plastic inlet manifold whereas ecotech had a ceramic 1 and 3BHP less

there is K reg ones. the pre-ecotec engine take much better to engine mods, and will produce better gains on these mods compared to the x16xe.
but the pre-ecotec will have more miles, may need referb, ect. Its down to personal choice

they did do a K-reg GSI, i have seen one, i got an M-reg GSI with an august registered C16XE engine, it was one of the last ones with the C16XE, the difference in the engines aint just 3BHP, the C16XE will tune up easier, and has slightly better head design with larger valves on the exhaust side, plus no EGR system to sap power, if ya mod a C16XE its gains will always be more than on the X16XE, up to an extent,

x16xe is the ecotec lump!
c16xe is the earlier, slightly more powerful one
x16xe produces peak power or torque earlier than the c16 though

i have NEVER heard of a K reg GSI
heres one for u...
what came standard on the GSI and what was an option?
i want as much as possible on mine when i get one
it HAS TO BE M reg for my plate to go on, so id like an early M reg unless they had more optionasl extras on late M reg ones/N reg
