Hi all!
I got 180w 65w RMS Components up front. I currently run them off my head unit and they sound terrible. They distort and a volume I dont reckon is that high. Yet others have them and they cant say wrong about them. But they have them amped up.
To get the best quality sound out of these speakers what amp do I want?
Thanks for any help - appreciated

Infinity at a guess...
If you dont want to spend too much get an alpine amp, they are good for the money.
Alpine MRV-F320 is 80w x 2 RMS and wud do the job fine.

No not terrible.....
But if the hu is a bit crap, and u r whacking it up with the bass up a bit its gonna sound nasty.
If the bass / treble is flat they shud go reasonably loud tho as u say, unless the hu is ancient or really crap.

Yeah I got a new Alpine head unit, its not a poo one. I got a 12" JL Audio sub which provides all the bass, and Ive taken all the bass away from the speakers so I thought I'd be able to whck them up pretty dam loud.
Maybe its the comps that are poo? I got hem off eBay, only cos they had great reviews, check them out:

Where do you think the problem lies?
My H/U is the Alpine CDM-9807RB

Those comps are maystar, shud be ok for off a hu but nothing special.
Get the amp i reccomened and see if it gets much better. Use the crossover on the amp to take the bass from the comps and leave the hu flat.
Once u have hat amp u would improve your system a lot by going for some focal comps, cost around £200 but are worth it.

Yeah I may do that then. The system will be complete then For now I will have to do with these comps. Who knows, they may sound a lot better off an amp.
Thanks for the help mate
