Hi there,
I am looking for a little bit of help as my car has decided not to start. It is a '99 SXi to set the scene.
I started it up yesterday morning and the whole car was juddering and obviously something was up so I shut it down again. It has done this before and then I start it up again and all is well... but not this time.
This time when I try and restart it turns over but then nothing....
I am at a total lose as to what is going on and any syggestions are very welcome!
Could it be the no petrol??? The gauge is nowhere near the red but maybe its gone faulty... would this cause these problems?
Thanks,
Richard

the juddering sounds like a bit of damp to me, which is what generally happens sooner or later. if it is, it'll just have trouble starting, but will be fine once it's warmed up a little. is the engine management light flashing in your instrument cluster?

Cheers, a mate suggested that but we couldnt get it bumped last night when we tried.
The electrics all seem fine and no unusual flashing from the instruments.
In I think you could be right though.
How would it get damp though as it is garged.

If your certain that it has fuel in it, i'd recommend checking the fuel filter. if you can't bump it, it sounds like a fuel or ignition problem... i'd also check your plugs / distro cap / rotor arm... clean the terminals on the cap and arm and make sure there's no damp on the spark plugs.

if theres no noice (i.e trying to turn over) when you turn the key in the ignition it could be your ignition switch.

purple corsa- it is turning over but then nothing...
Going to try bu,ping it again tonight or tomrrow once mates finish work.
Hopefully it is just damp and once going will be fine. If I cant bump it then I will go down and get some petrol and see if maybe the gauge is gone.
Thanks,
Anymore suggestions then keep them coming.
