Right as you can see my corsa is nautilaus blue, which is more green but anyway, i really like the colour of the car but iv got a few scratches and stone chips which need attention, i want a respray all over car, not a full shell just outside, thing is i want it to stand out a bit more but generally keep the same colour, two things have been mentioned to me pearls and flakes, what the flap do these do? Im after my original colour but when you catch light it shows another colour, not a flip something more subtle! any examples? Not sure if this is the right forum but never seem to get answers in the help one! Also sorry about the essay,

Cheers, Jamie

BTW:

Metal Flakes cost about £18 per pot,
Crystal Flakes cost about £30 per pot,

You need two pots to do the whole car (This is using stuff from Rage)

Crystal Flakes actually flip between different colours, where as metal flakes have a fixed colour, they just sparkle that one colour. Crystal Flakes work really well on dark colours... If your going to Max Live then you can see both the different types on the CS stand

Obviously it would cost less for a blowover with metal/crystal flakes (it is a blowover right?). how much labour would you expect to pay if you supplied the paint?

Another way to look at it is metal flake is like adding 'metal glitter' to your original paintjob. Makes it more sparkly.

Crystal flakes are like metal flakes but each flake is rainbow.

As I understand it, the flake can be added to lacquer, so theres no need for a paint blowover, just lacquer? cant cost much can it?

Somewhere around £1000 as a blowover is a pretty quick job, but the flakes are quite hard to do, and need a fair bit of laquer to cover over and get glassy...

You can keep your original colour according the Rage, but, if your paint is in poor condition and needs touching its not recomended, however greens and blues do tend to touch up ok... A blowover is recomended by the tech guys at Rage...

Hmm...I thought re-sprays with flake/pearl effects cost 1-2k....thought just a blowover with lacquer would only cost a couple of hundred! oh well.

Your best bet is to speak to a bodyshop, as I'm guessing, I know my respray was expensive... Your looking at probably £6-800ish for a blowover in flakes or pearl though... (Thought you were wanting a blowover on the base too - misread)

good good. Will pop down this weekend. I know it might sound a bit stupid but will most bodyshops do a job like this (lacquer blowover with crystal flakes) or is it more of a specialised job for say rage?
