How many of you have spent your student loan on other things than going out or paying tuition / book fees?
i.e. how many of you have spent it on car etc ? 
or ... how many of you have tried to not spend it all so you have some interest free money to use when you finish your studies?
How much student loan did everyone get? and how long did it last (what was it spent on?) 
cheers... I'm going to uni in sept, and just got my loan forms back...
I'm getting £4000 a year, parents said they would pay for my accomidation in first year, but I think they're regretting saying that now they've seen how much it is lol. but I have no idea how long this will last? I'm working over summer to make as much as I can. If I find that I have a lot of it left over, I might just buy a pug 106 gti or put a 2.0 16v in my car next year.

spent 2 loans of about £1400 on me car.£100 on books, rest on ale etc. haha

im doin quite well then. in 1st yr. got £3k loan. + work part time.
got 2700 from my loan left. im savin it for later in life. and saved up about 2k from working. and had about 1500 from before.
still ... far from rich

well this year i bought 1 thing for uni with my laon, a pad of paper lol! all the rest went on car and beer! but in all fairness i did buy all the book i need for my degree last year

I spent 600 on rent this year, then 350 on my front bumper, and the rest on a few bits and bobs and a holiday in London...

Only had one student loan in Uni, in my second year there (1996-7), spent £1,000 on a brand-new PC and put the other £700 in the bank...

Does everyone get the sama ammount for thier student loan. I found out I get a £50 grant for something. Might spend that on a night out

Got £1500 i think for my 1st year - Spent 350 of that on ICE, rest went on essentials..... petrol, beer and food  Don't think i put any money towards anything to actually do with uni come to think of it  Even borrowed pens from my sister for my exams

got about 3k the first year, and they decreased the amount slightly the next 2 years.
great feeling isn't it..? knowing you're over 10k in debt when the chancellor (or whoever) hands over your scroll at the graduation ceremony!

Spent £4500 this year...my first year. Had 3 £1100 loans, and maxed my Uni overdraft which is 1200 too.
Nothing to show for it. Spent it on booze, gambling and no idea what else.

i live at home with my mum and dad, combined earnings of 43 grand before tax, does that mean ill get the minimum loan? if so what is the minimum?
