hello, my 1 litre is basically f**ked! had the car given to me but its sounds like my old fiesta. TAPPETS! surely a vauxhall dont have tappets! when i start it up, the car makes a 'dry and slow' tapping noise for a second then goes into a fast tapping motion. once i start accelerating, the car makes a faster tapping noise then stops bout 10mph. but sounds awful stationary!
took it to vauxhall they say its my camchain. took it to the AA/Halfords Garage and they say they did a cam chain and it sounds different to that and that its somethin else. does anyone know what it could be??????

my brother has the same prob, weve been stripping his down wiv a friend.
weve found that the tensioner is shot... making it click and missfire.
you have to basically dismantle the left side of the engine.(looking from from)
you will need a compressed air gun to remove the fooking crank bolt

mine doesnt give me trouble anymore, it did when i first bought the car, but spent almost 900 on the whole car and its been runnin like a dream since. i like the way the car runs, admited i would like a faster car but right now theres no need for it. that and i cant afford the insurance due to the crash.

They arent that slow. For saying they are a 1.0 i think they were quite nippy.
Only grp 2 ins, 54bhp, an absolute beast for a 1.0
Oh and the 8v is slower.

The fact that the word dream and 1.0 are in the same context

i bet a grandad would dream of a nice 1.0 runner.
I used to love my 1.0, i used to laugh at all the other people with big litres who had to visit the petrol station all the time.
Far better to have a 1.0 as a run around an a better car for "sunday's best" if you get what i mean
