nah its just says it a pci modem.
i looked on the sony site to see what modem they put into this particualr laptop and the great news is that there were 5 or 6 different variants used
before i formated.... the driver name was HSF genric modem.
now on my own compoooter XP used to installed a generic driver for my connexant modem and a connexant-ambitsoft modem was one of serveral different ones used on this laptop.
its a pain in the ass with this latop cos theres no network port to transfer files from my desktop.
hrmmm just had a brain wave. i could install my dsl modem on the laptop and get the driver that way!! uh DUHHHHHHH

Good luck dude, the Conexant generic chipsets can be a right c**t sometimes
If it's a Sony, try on their website (is it a Vaio by any chance) as they used to be very good for driver support for different OS'es when I had mine

yeh its a vaio... the spoon who i'm doing the job for rings me at 8:30 monday night saying he needed it for 9 cos he wanted to type some document. i told him that he could take it away so but it probably wont beworking right(i had just formatted it)as 30 mins is not enough time to install an OS.
low an behold he rings me the next day wondering y his modem isnt working after me telling him i need to get a driver for it.
i dont have the laptop here now so i have no way of knowing what model of viao it is. i dont even know if theres different types of vaio
its going to be funny now when i do get the drivers installed cos i havent a clue of this chaps ISP details and i seriously doubt he does either
