Thinking of buying an unregistered import, was just wondering if it is a lot of hassle getting it registered and sva tested, just looked on the d o t website and it doesnt look like too much grief.

I registed my RX7. First time i'd done anything like that and it was easy enough to be honest. Assuming its all been paid for and has cleared customs, you take (drive) it home and MOT it. As soon as you receive the documents from customs a few days later just to say that you've paid VAT and whatnot you take the MOT certificate, insurance documents (you have to insure the car on the chassis number, not the plate), the japanese deregistration documents and the customs invoices to the DVLA. They can then register it for you, which should take about 2 days.

depends on the age of the car you may have to do a SVA or a VSGA
