if i run a 1100w amp powering a 1000w sub will i need to fit a power cap or will it just run straight from the battery?
or would u suggest running two slightly smaller subs off the same amp?

no need for a power cap, the battery will be fine. but you may want to swap that for a heavy duty one. i used my dad 1.9 TD battery

1000w RMS or PMPO? 1000w RMS you will prob need to uprate the battery and/or altenator?
