Use ZoneAlarm.... Its free, and imo its the best firewall ive used to date Search for the free download on google, and download that... u only want the basic version thats purpose is firewall protection, not pop up shit, cos those higher versions of ZA u have to pay for. Hope this helps, and qns gimme a shout mate

surely if your using a router, there will be no need to install firewall seperately on each machine

if the router is poo tho, I wouldn't bother with ZoneAlarm... it causes too much shit & also tries to take over alot of stuff & fcuks up alot more things.

Are the clients assigned IP's via DHCP or do you manually configure them? Just make sure there all using the correct DNS, Subnet & Gateway. I used to have issues with a 2k client on my network which wasn't seeing the gateway correctly so the DNS server was configured wrong also.

Uninstall norton, and install Zone Alarm, should fix it, i have no problems with zone alarm and msn, and used to have problems with norton non stop, wether it be the anti virus or firewall

ooooh another one aswell, have you ran the internet connection wizard shitter on 2k?

just make sure you tell it your connected through a LAN & so-on, it should help a bit (hopefully)

also then go into Internet Options, Connections, and the click the LAN Settings button, click OK on the new window which pops up & then apply & ok on the internet options. No need to change anything, its just 2k can be a tad retarded at times when using a LAN connection for internet when not part of a domain.

It will be a registry problem i should think. Dunno how to fix it tho I wouldn't bother messing with it, i'd just format the HD and start again.
