Athlons arent shite

Ive built around 20 machines now, 4 of those have been 2.8 - 3hz P4's and the benchmarks have only exceeded the equivalent athlon on encoding.

Its not all about the clock cycles you know

this is true, also Durons are the best-performers per £ on a budget & the 1.8GHz duron outperforms 2ghz P4 systems

Also, Athlon 3200+ XP is what... 2.2GHz?? so its a whole 1000MHz less than a P4 3.2, yet performs just as well...

Richie is right, its not about Clock Cycles, its Instructions-per-clock, which the Athlon/Duron/Opteron/FX wins Hands-Down!

Oh, and if a 2.2Ghz Athlon XP (3200+ rating chip) can perform as well as a 3.2GHz P4... I dread to think what mine is competing against

Probs something like 4200+ or 4400+ if it was rated & also working it against current MHZ/ratings of other chips
