tell me how much you wanna spend. my camera would set you back £690 and you'd need a big CF card £55 from ebay for a 60x 512mb card

depends on the lens you fit. also digital SLR cameras have a smaller sensor than film SLR so it's not a true 35mm. my 300D has a focal magnification of 1.6x. so teh 18-55mm lens is actually a 28.8-88mm. not great for wide angle shots but your getting a bigger zoom as a trade off.

If you mean compared to 300D, its because the 300V is a film camera, not digital.

It really all depends what you want to do with the photo, if they are going to be shown on the internet at smaller sizes then quality is not as important because the photos will be downsized anyway. If you would want to print them out then you would want a higher quality camera, the one you suggested would be fine for most prints. I have a Minolta 7hi which is 5mp and that can print of photos which are a4 size without you noticing anythign to the eye.

THe main thing with photography is even if you have got the best camera in the world you need to know what to look for and what makes a good shot.

Ive had a few drinks now so ill check that in the morning and see if it makes sense

For that price yes. I paid £600 for mine a few month back, well not actually paid i broke my last one and got £600 worth of vouchers to replace it. Bought a bag and tripod from Argos, tripod is great for pics as my hands arent exactly steady
