its class, you miss out if you dont go, the experience, only downside is it doesnt get you a job much better then someone with 3 years work experience, unless ur degree is specialised like physio say

if your gonna go, go to do the work not party, because it will get you in debt and you'll end up with fuck all. I've been to two:

1. MMU age 19-21, messed about, spent loads of time in the SU, left after second year

2 Salford UNI age 21-23, Got the work done and got good grades, just graduated.

tooo many people dropped out in the first years and they were all people who took to the lifestyle but not to the work which is why you are there.

Go for it mate, what harm can it do? when i started uni at 18 there were loads of people there who were in their 20s so to be honest you will be in the majority.

20 isnt too old, im 20 in october! Think of all the younger girls too

PS - My mate said that most of the people on his course have taken a year or more out too, so hes one of the young ones at 18! (when he started)

I was supposed to be going in Sept but not now due to money probs but would hav bin goin at 21 and I know I wudn't hav bin the youngest. Mates have a said it's a laff and but wouldn't recommend going if it's to get a better job cuz chance is you'd be better of gettin experience in the long run go for it!

The people I was there with who were older generally worked harder and achieved more.

Its not completely about socialising all the time, you do need to be interested in what you study and you will be skint especially if you move away. It may not even further your job prospects unless you do very well.

That said, if you do, you can go further.

Do it mate. But please go to get a good degree rather than to just have a good social life, degrees are becoming less valued nowadays because of muppets who go just to drink loads.
There are still loads of good graduate jobs out there too. For example a friend of a friend went to work as a trainee regional manager at Lidls after her Business degree, £30,000 increasing to £40kish after training. That is pretty damn good with loads of career prospects.
Its just harder to get these jobs with the high number of graduates, im hoping to get a 1st class degree which i hope will give myself an advantage when i come to look for a job.

i went for 2 years, had a brilliant time, course was crap so i left, got a good job now though, dont regret going. should have done another course now. problem i find is schools push you to go, took me a few years to decide wat i wanted to do, and it wasnt doing engineering at uni.

im 20 nearly 21 and ive just got my AS results to get into Uni! I messed about first time around and ive never really know what to do but im just going to knuckle down now ive found something i have a bit of interest in. I've watched so many of my class mates do exactly what i did and mess about but thats what you do when your young, i didn't say anything to them as they wouldn't have listened and they have to make their own mistakes.

You are mad if you have the opportunity to go and you don't.

Best years of my life by far. First time away from home, living with mates and generally having the time of your life.

I worked when I needed to and came out with a good degree from a very good Uni. Now have a very good job on Fasttrack Graduate Scheme with a blue chip company who pay me lots and give me lots of time off for various development courses etc. Also have a structured pay scheme which means tidy pay rise each year

Miss Uni like crazy though! Do it while you can and enjoy it

Tis within the Finance sector. I did Economics and personally found it OK to get a job. I got the one I wanted so I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

Get any experience you can, helps sooooo much. I did an internship for the summer of my 2nd yr and it was invaluable in interviews, application forms etc.

What you looking to go into?

Nice one Im taking Business studies at UWE (university of the west of england) and quite enjoy the economics side of it which we go into a fair bit.

Im worried about the experience side of things as ive only had a supermarket job for the last few years, although ive had supervisory experience etc there.

Im hopefully looking to go into marketing as it interests me and apparently pays very well, however as im doing a general degree its probably best to keep my options open. Im also interested in retail as ive heard many retail firms take on graduate trainees for regional managment positions.

Ive even toyed with the idea of taking a masters but maybe itll be more beneficial to start work. Just aiming to get a 1st at the moment to try and stand out from all the business graduates with 2:1s
