Right run into a problem,
Driving along booted it into roundabout in wet, Applied power halfway round and I slid and hit a kerb/Slid into kerb, On McDonalds Roundabout in Worksop at about half 3 in morning, At about 75mph bounced off into road, Got 15yds down the road, And I lose power, When I push the accelerater I get a grinding sound under car! in neutral its normal and revs with no sound, The car couldn't be moved so it got towed home and it carn't be fixed atm because no garages are open. The front left wheel took full force of impact, But suprisingly little/no damage to bodywork/wheel
Car is a 4wheel Drive MR 300 Evo
Am I looking at a driveshaft problem and if so am I looking at it being snapped or just popped out if thats possible? Also would be greatful if someone can inform me on a price of repairs, As Im only 18 and I carn't afford a claim so its coming out of my pocket

More than likely broke the propshaft and or the transfer box. If so you're looking at big £££ to get it repaired.
Sorry to say it but serves you right for having that kind of car at 18. You've hardly got the experience for that kind of power.

All I needed to know, Not the snide remark at the end, thx anyway. PS my 1st crash in about 3months of driving and it could of happened just as easily in a corsa, Misjudged a corner and was punished

Fair enough but at 18 you're bound to have an accident thats the way statistics go, to have a powerful car at that age is asking for trouble

Please G T F with your jealousy nickyboy
A friend of mine is extremely well off. His first car was P1. Didnt crash is all he did was revese to close to a post and dent it a little. I did same in my 1st year in the corsa.
He then got an M3 then a 911 turbo. Never crahsed. he is a good driver.
Theres no reason why you will kill yourself. Plus your hardly gunna learn much about driving in a metro/corsa/micra are you
Leave the guy alone im sure if u had the money ud buy an evo yourself mate

Seriously guys Im not here to agrue the ins and outs of if I should drive the car, For the record the excess is massive, And insurance around the same levels as what ude pay for a 2/3rd hand impreza! All I made the thread for was to find the problem as there are no mechanics till monday who can look at the car and break the bad and expensive news. Yes I feel a touch of a tit but it happens I guess

If i could afford an Evo i would have one but not at 18, i wouldnt want the worry of possibly having an accident and then not being able to afford to repair it etc.
Fair play if you can afford one at that age but like i said it comes down to driving experience where little accident like this happen

It happens and its unfortnate, best bet is to have it looked at my a pro, prolly Mitsubishi themselves. It my not be as bad as it seems to dont think its the end of the world. Only problem with Jap it seems is that a lot of partsd arent kept in stock, frind of mine with an 200sx had to order a feckin washer pump from Japan

tbh I don't know 1, My freind has a corsa and visits this site thats how I know about it, Perhaps if some1 had a link to a forum for Evo enthusiasts I could ask and it'd help no end, But at the end of the day mechanics for a car are more or less similar between models

lol if it were a corsa, you could replace the whole suspension setup for less than £50 a side. An evo? try £5000 like you said

Quite possibly, the problem with cars like that or most 4x4's the compents are all linked so an impact on one may transfer damgee to the others. Think yaself lucky, if it was a Cally Turbo you'd have to run over a catseye to feck the transfer box
