just started and done a few hours work so far.
progress is slow at the moment, but i've got next week off now, so i'm not rushing so much.
it started to rain a bit, so i've come in.

first thing was to disconnect and remove the battery, drain coolant and remove some of the hoses and the expansion tank, lose the air filter up to the afm.

started off with removing the loom first, labelling up all the plugs as i went.
loom and ecu came out without to much bother.

disconnected and removed the throttle cable (bastid at the linkage),
disconnected clutch cable and speedo cable (had to remove the hard air trunking to get to the speedo connection).
removed the front pipe of the exhaust,
nightmare to get to the heater matrix hoses, but they're off now.

think that's about where i'm up to at the moment, next jobs are to disconnect the gear linkage, drop the anti roll bars, the remove the struts to get at the hubs and shafts.

some pics:

how the car looks at the moment

engine in the garage (1/3 of a garage anyway)

how it used to be

few bits out

loom out

ecu out

labelled loom and ecu

throttle linkage at the bottom, and i tried to shoot the speedo cable connection, but missed

shows the fuel hose connections on the left and the heater matrix pipes going to the bulkhead in the centre

Good work so far mate

Keep taking step-by-step pics, always found engine conversions interesting.

Guessing its a 2.0 16v your putting in? Changing the exhaust?

pic of the pas pump free of the block.
i know it'll have to come off the pipes to get the 2ltr pump on, but just leaving it like this to the side for the moment, untill there's a bit more space to minimise fluid loss.

from the top

from underneath

the gear selector rod to linkage clamp and bolt

and the rod and housing that i can't get free of the car

any ideas, please shout

i did try that briefly, but my drive is not entirely flat, so was reluctant to leave it off for ages.

on the quick bash i had with the break down, the housing wouldn't even come up over the handle, because the kink in the rod wasn't past the start of the aperture yet.

anyone know how to get the rod out of the housing?
