My ECU is on it's way out. How much will another one cost around? I need the car for work so it may be worth changing the car if it's gonna cost a fair bit.

How can an ECU be on it's way out? It's not a mechanical component that gets worn and you know its dieing....

It costs nothing to fit an ECU, unplug the old one, and plug the new one in, I think even p.nut here could do that...

The car is running like a bitch. Pug told me it was the ECU and not re-programable as it's fecked. Said it will cost £400 for a new one and the work after charging me £45 + VAT for checking over the car.

If the car is running badly it will be a sensor, not the ECU.

So Pug couldn't be arsed to find what the problem was either and just aid it was the ECU as you went on a SUnday and they all wanted to be at home. What they should have done is done a diagnostic check on the car to see what exactly is wrong - at a guess it would most likely be the air mass meter, seing as it runs, but as you put it, runs like shit.

The car drives fine but coming up to lights etc i'm having to drop it into second to get the revs up, brake as much as pos -- then use the handbrake to stop whilst having to keep my foot on the gas.
