Saxo beats it hands down. just driven my mates, quite impressed really. altho it was the 100bhp 99> model. wud b better to compare it with the pre 99 90bhp really......

handlings well better than a corsa tho. heard so many comments about the corsa ones being so much better, but i now gather they were all biased opinions.

ive driven owned a corsa for about a year, driven a saxo for half an hour, saxo wins. no bias.

its a bit difficult to compare really coz theyre hardly like for like, 1.4 16v, 1.6 8v, but the bhp is similar. saxo just seems so much better. handlings great.

mate jus got a 02 VTR yest and i feel it will pish over my sport (1.4). but like u say, there not really similar cars, different CC so its not a good comparison. a good comparison would be:

clio 1.4 16v
corsa 1.4 16v
mg zr 1.4 16v
polo 1.4 16v

corsa gsi 1.6 16v
VTR 1.6 8v
VTS 1.6 16v
106 GTi 1.6 16v

but il give me mate a go against him in mine and wel c wot happens. its quick over 80 i tel ya, had it to 123 today !

You cannot compare a corsa 1.6 to a VTS or GTi either, we all know the french tin cans are faster and handle better VTR's are easy meat for corsa 1.6's though. saying that, i could keep side by side with a VTS in 3rd gear right up to about 85, and then it was pulling away.

if you notice i made a point of engine groups not basing the grouping on performace. i was making a point of a 1.4 corsa shoudl even be compared coz its obviously gona be slower coz it is in a different class

I disagree. just because th saxo may handle better and quicker to 60mph does not make it a better car

1.4 16v Sport once moving can keep up with 90bhp VTR's, the 100bhp VTR's are a lot faster IMO.

At 70mph plus, the Corsa 1.6 16v can keep up with a VTS/GTi.

When i had my saxo with standard sus i felt alot safer putting it into a corner quick-ish, on standard suspension I was frightened for my life with the corsa so i went n bought dampers n springs n lowered it 60mm

I have driven a saxo vtr once and wasnt very impressed. Interior felt very flimsy and handbrake was like a dildo. and i cudnt get ma feet in2 the pedals properly, but in time i mite have become used to it.

as for if they are faster, just look at the typical person that drives most of them.

i made the choice of getting a corsa over a saxo cos all round it's better yeah maybe there quicker and handle better but put a suspenion kit on a corsa and your away!
also corsas have look nicer interior, air con, deadlocks and it don't take two seconds to brake into. yeah also corsa b's are old but still look nicer done up than a saxo but thats my point of view!

saxo is has worse build quality, can only be driven with people with small feet, has no rear head rests, is small compared to a corsa in terms of rear leg room and boot space, has old spec engines do you want me to go on

I drove a 100bhp Saxo VTR and it felt really breathless compared to my SXi, might have been something to do with the 8v setup.

Remeber that a Saxo may be better at a quater mile (great) but you will have to live with the disgusting interior. Mmmmmmm shiney black plastic door cards - my favorite!

yes please as corsa b's do not have rear headrests, and their engines are older than the saxo range, i have size 9 feet and have no problems don't know about clowns though) and boot space and rear leg room are almost the same
