Just bought some discs and pads this evening becuase driving into bristol everyday has fooked them.

They are grinding on both sides. I have to do them my self this weekend because i can't get my car into a garage to have it done for next week.

Its fairly easy to put the discs and pads on innit? Take wheel off, undo clip on callipers and undo the 7mm bolts. Then wack on the discs/pads. that about it?

if your doin it by the book you should really replace em, but you'd probably get away with it. it's like torque settings an stuff.

Mate, you will need a 10mm allen key to get the calipers off so you can get the discs off. The 7mm one is for just the pads, and these bolts are under plastic covers.

BTW, you best off getting a socket type 10mm allen key and using a big breaker bar. As someone said, they're tough bolts to crack off

Threadlock and reuse the bolts.

Agreed, you really need a socket and breaker bar, or stick an allen key in a bit of tube for leverage.

A g-clamp to put the pistons back into the calipers is useful as well.

allen keys aint gunna really help ya...

ya need an allen key socket........7 and 10 as said above....

you wont really get leverage with allen keys...unless u casn get a bar to slip over them...and thn your laughing....but really better off with allen key sockets

You can push the pistons in with your hands?

I must be a pussy.

Although I've only ever done it on 256, 284mm and a 4 pot set ups, so can I use that as an excuse

thanks for the info guys. The allen key i bought has a nice strong handle on it. but if not i will find a bit of pipe to use.

Miles what is threadlock, so i can reuse the bolts. Would they be expensive new bolts?

Bythe way, i got the mintex kit. It ain't to bad for a standard setup is it? am i going to see alot of brake dust, cos that pisses me off

get some brake cleaner on the disks to take the film off them

the bolts are a quid each from vaux and they already have threadlock on them, id sooner buy new for peace of mind where brakes are concerned.

they did have the bolts. They said they have never really had them in before. And they supply all my local garages. So i think i'll be ok without changing them.

got the brake cleaner though for £3.49

right got the wheel off and i am missing the bolt that holds on the disc. this shouldn't be a problem should it? the bolts for the wheel should hold it on fine shouldn't they?

the bolt that did hold the disc on looks like its sheered off
