got the hubs on thuyrsday, had them pressed that afternoon and dropped back to me.
fitted the manifold thursday evening
did the o/s shaft, hub assembly, suspension and brakes last night,
then did the n/s this afternoon, and secured the coil to the battery tray. (elastic band and paperclip bodge job. couldn't find a nut and bolt anywhere.)
couldn't see how the rad fan was possibly going to go back in, so left it out and took it out for a test run after swapping my new wheels onto it.
started off slowly, battling the steering with no pas at the moment. the thing sounds horrendous with no exhaust system present at the mo after the manifold.
can't get 4th at the moment. think the engine needs pulling forward slightly on the rear mount to get clearance.
drives nice. pretty quick, but didn't rag it hard because it's too loud and would've been attracting all sorts of attention.
drove over to a mates in it. got through town without a problem, then gave it a little bit on an open road to notice that the road behind was full of smoke. pulled over sharpish, and turned out it was steam.
the rad top hose was pissing water onto the manifold. i think the hose was never attached properly and had pulled back abit then as the thermostat had only just opened.
anyway, called mates girlfriend to bring out some water, luckily i'd decided it would be best to take the tools in the car with me, so that was fixed in no time, and we were on way again.
did a few miles, dropped the mate off, and headed home.
got halfway back before the steam filled road reared it's head again.
checked the top hose again, but it wasn't that this time.
filled the header tank again from the bottle in the car, but it was pissing straight onto the road again as soon as it was put in.
managed to get back home by filling it to the brim, and quickly driving for a wee while, then stooping to refill the tank.
made a stop at a shop for some evian, and continued, getting up some speed, then turning off the engine and coasting as far as possible.
needs to be investigated further, but that's a job for another day.
pleased it all works ok though, anyway.
got a fault code halfway through my journey, but i think that's the lambda sensor which hasn't been reconnected yet.
few pics of the car wth the new wheels.
sorry they're shit and dark, i'll get some better ones tomorrow if it's not raining and a few of the completed engine bay.

cheers
they are cav/calibra 15" 6spokes, minus the centre caps and powder coated satin black.
i have dark repeaters sat next to me right here, just haven't got round to putting them on yet.
also have dark headlights on order from sel-imperial. have been for about 3months now; seems they aren't able to get hold of them at the moment.
just nned to sort the pikey B-pillars now, and it should be all good from there.

yeah, b pillars were cracked.
previous owner had it fixed for mot just before i took ownership, but the filler or primer whatever, has been disolved by th erain, and has been slowly running down the quarter panel.
the n/s is smooth, but the o/s is now rough as fuck, so needs re-smoothing, then they can both be painted.

Lee, i think i'm gona bring it to you when i've sorted the coolant issue anyway.
few bits need tidying, and the wiring needs neatening off.
i'll drop you a line once i'm up and running properly.

OK, had another look at it this afternoon, and i think i've fixed it.
took the header tank out and noticed that the right heater matrix stub was missing it's hose.
i think the pinch clip that i put on was slightly too small, and hadn't gone all the way onto the stub. replaced it with a slightly larger one, and it seem to have done the trick.
think there's a few airlocks in it, but it's doing the job for now.
took it out for another spin, and alll seems to be in order. still too loud to fully unleash it, but that can wait till the exhaust has been sorted.
a few pics:
this is the bodged fix of the coil. temporary untill i get to some bolts tomorrow.
bodged hose no.1; two pipes of the same size joined together with a section of biro tube and a jubilee clip.
bodged hose no.2; thin one inserted into a thick one with a couple of clips and a lot of hope joining them together. temporary untill i can afford a proper silicone set.
finished engine bay
and a couple of the outside
needs a damn good wash now.

cheers mate.
needs a bit of tidying on the outside before it's quite how i want it, but it'll be staying mostly like it is now.
