What sort of boost can they run safely on std fuel sys and turbos?
Are trackers etc normally required for insurance?

Adam great cars but be carefull what you buy. If you can find one that has had the engine well serviced and rebuilt recently by a dealer really or a reputable firm then spend the money and get a good one. However for pease of mind and a safer bet you would be better of hagling to get a cheap one and then get it the engine rebuilt yourself. Mark from RJ Automotive has got one it was imported from Japan with some decent gear on, it was then rebuilt by a very well known company all in the price. Problem was the turbo was knackered and the rebuild was shockingly poor! Its all sorted now and he has a single turbo converstion and lots and lots of other goodies it should be pushing out 450BHP, its currently being run in (1000 miles @ 3000RPM Max) and then its of for a remap.

Here's a little teaser pic for you as its not quite finished:

When they are looked after and done right they realyy are an awsome car, they do drink petrol though but you are used to that, and it seems that the maintance can be too much for some but with a good base and inital outlay you will be laughing!

RX7's are fantastic car's, I know you'll expect this from me, but if u want to spend 5-6k on a rx7, import one, for that money i can get you a mint low miler that will last rather then you buying a uk one with near the magic 6k mark unless you want to spend 3k on the rebuild straight away! get in touch if you want some examples adam, but these are fantastic car's, amazing handling and performance as they weigh so little. and REALLY set up well, with a fantastic LSD.

shit cars , i wouldnt have one

Nah best car i have owned / been in

before i brought it i looked at few Skylines some scoobs and Evo 4 GSR's and out of themn all the RX was best by far ,

Skylines felt to big , Scoobs how many do you see aday EVO's still to pricey for what they are.

RX7s perfect

its got great handaling , go like stink , weight nothing and looks shexy, Also currently less than 700 in the UK so nice and rare.

On standard ECU and setup you do not want to run any more boost than standard 10-8-10 setup , but once youve done stage 1 + 2 then you will get boost creep anyway , so next thing is to sort the brain , most common setup is the Apexi Power FC, these do everything from the commander , you can take the boost upto 14psi when mapped correctly but best not to go any higher than that.

if you want big power singlw turbo is the way forward , but currently on the owners club there are a few people pushing well high figures on stock twins.

id say you wouldnt regret buying one
