it's been in for a service mate.

I want to know how to get it to stop coming on when I turn on.

whoever did the service should have taken it off as far as i know.
take it back to em an get them to do it.

i'd really like to avoid taking it to vauxhall just for that there must be an easy way to make it disappear.

Vaux probably run a cable to the ECU to tell it the service has been done

turn off ignition hold down the trip switch in the clocks turn on the ignition while still holding in the trip switch and after a few seconds some numbers will flash up on the clocks thats it job done

funnily enuf i had exactly the same problem , i took the car for its 1st yr service last week and yesterday nite when i turn the engine on it goes InSp , so took it to vaux and now they want me to bring it in tomorow
