wanting to get online with the play station fairly soon.
not entirely sure how to go about it.
i know you need one of these, network adapters : http://www.play.com/play247.asp?searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=network+adapter&page=search
do you then plug it into back of tv or straight into the phone socket.?
i read it needs an isp to operate, so it must go from the network adapter into either the copmp or a router thing?
anyone done this and know what to do?
cheers

well you can get a router with an ADSL modem built in, but the router basically allows more than one computer/ps2 use the internet connection

or just switch between the pc or ps2 cable depending what io want to be doing?

if u run directly in your modem so have to tell you service provider so they can set you up also they charge for this, £5 a month so get a router is the best bet

no.
right it depends on what type of modem you've got, if your moden runs through USB you'll need one with and ethernet adapter as well. NTL and some others have this on theres. AOL dont i know that much.
if you do have one just unplug the USB and join it to the ethernet through the network adapter (19.99)
if not then you can do it three ways:
1. buy a router as detailed above, a combined ADSL and router is best (about £100ish)
2. buy another modem which is supported by you SP and conect it up
3. use a cross over cable (different cable) to connect your PS2 to your computer which has an internet conection.

I got twisted metal balck online from dixons for £10 brand new. This includes the network adapter. You need to contact your ISP to let them know about it so that they'll allow the connection. Y ou plug the adapater into the back of your ps2 and then hook it up to tyour broadband modem and away you go. You dont neccassarily need a rounter. I just take the internet line out of the modem and put the ps2 broadband line in. Only problem is doing it this way you have to reset the modem each time.
