just upgraded the BIOS on my windows 98se "TINY" P3 700mhz 512MB sd-ram from esupport.com....
it does feel slightly faster especially on boot up and shut down, however...

1) during the memory test on boot up screen it fails at 392MB even though i have 2x 256mb sticks!???
2) pc is generally very unstable now?? any program i open will crash eventaully or freeze the pc and i cant install new programs sucessfully??
3) i still cant get windows xp on to it?? it fully formats the HDD then when installing files it comes across installation errors???

please help anyone, any advice would be helpfull as im lost!

put each memeory stick in by itself ans see which is the more stable - and which will complete the memory test - if one is totaly fucked then it will be making the machine very unstable - like i said the other week this is more than likely a memory fault - if it is still not working when u just try each stick by themself - then it's time to buy some new - decent - quality memory

. and then u'll be able to install xp without a problem - unless another component is broke which wouldn't surprise me with a Tiny p.c

thanks mate, i will try it now

could the memory test failure be the MAIN reason the pc is so unstable and that xp is not installing??

i was such a fool for buying a TINY good thing i took out a 3 year gaurantee!!!!!!!! as i have LITERALY had all the main parts in the pc replaced in last 3 years motherboard, HardDrive, power supply, cd-rom drive!!!

YES!!! honestly sounds as tho your memory is fucked - its possible tht your processor is damaged but its unlike as its a P3 and generally there as solid as anything - try your memory first - each stick seperate and see how u go....... u2u me if it still aint sorted
