stay away mate !
sony HUs arnt the greatest things around its a cheap HU, but thats about it. The sound quality is pure crappness in a din socket and the whole unit is very plastic'y
how much cash have you got to spend for a HU?
in the mean time, have a look at some decent HUs on caraudiodirect.co.uk

its not quite as simple as playing a disc - you have different optics, different d to a's, different mosfet amps, better power supplies. All of these effect the sound. If it was as simple as you say, then SQ people wouldnt spend a grand on HUs that only play cds and does nothing more
that fact is, sony HUs are made very cheaply and sony doesnt really have a clue about hifi's let alone car stereos, and although they may suit something with a tight budget, with a little bit more searching and abit more saving you could get something from pioneer/alpine that would offer alot more power and better quality sound
hence why i recommend that people do REVIEWS before they buy stuff, it can save alot of pissed off moments with equipment

have a look on caraudiodirect.co.uk mate you can pick up an pioneer for about 110 which will be alright
although if you can save abit, then i would opt for either the bottom end alpine (140 odd) or a pioneer 5600 (150 odd)

S master technology has been used since 2001 Kirt. They now use S Master pro, all they've done is use a new pulse power supply, a new Low pass filter technology, few different component changes and a dc phase regulator

i dont like sony gear, whether it be xploder car shite or indoor stuff - however, saying that, sony CRT tvs are bloody good, great picture and we've never had problems with them. Its a pity that they produce so much crap otherwise though, especially their plasma screens, was really disappointed with them when i looked at a few
