The ECU light on my dash had been flashing on and off for a few weeks. So yesterday I took the car to Vauxhall, and they hooked their diagnostic machine to the car and found out that the fault is the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
They told me it needs replaceing and the part alone costs £230.00 + VAT. 
I told them not to replace it. But it got me wondering if any one else has had this problem, and how did they solve it ?
The garage resetted the fault, but told me it will come back until I replace/repair the part.

ask them about an exchange unit, which should be around £100
|

Exchange unit ???
What that....like second hand ?
Is that common for Vauxhall Garages to do these exchange parts ???

what engine u got, i had the same prob with my 1.2 16v corsa b dont bother payin that much, i got one off a new style corsa the had been written off works just the same paid £70!

oh and by the way u got an induction kit or anything like that if so what?

Engine is a 1.0l 12v
And it's got a quickshift filter on it.

Does it have to be the same engine size, or can you use any sensor ???

Can be off any size engine - so long as it is the same part... Go and look at some at a scrappy and compare the part numbers

im not 100% but msot ppl do them, there factory reconned units which are alot cheaper, if you car was in warrenty you would get one of these
as your a ful paying customer there liley to to advitise the fact they sell them
