im not sure if it would beat it, depends what type of road etc, if it was a straight line i think it would be pretty level-ish on a twisty bit of road then the civic would win easy

would it beat a jet plane? and what if the civic had a vtec controller fitted? i was lead to believe that a civic vti would keep with a c20xe corsa?

Civic with an Apexi V-AFC vtec controller would beat anything.
Corsa would beat everything else.

Oh, they're still shite. But they beat everything.
Just to clarify, I'm comparing a C20XE'd Corsa travelling at 40mph compared to a Civic Type-R (breadvan) and a C20LET'd Corsa both parked up with their owners staying overnight in a Holiday Inn making sweet love.

What about the Civic engine in a Corsa? What about tieing the Civic to a wooden fence with 12 metres of garden twine?
What about...

LET would rape it, bread van type r's have fuck all torque for a 200 bhp 2 litre engine. Would be down to driver talent with an XE.

My standard XE, thats burning shite loads of oil cant keep up with a Civic Type R, i did race a V6 Corsa the other day and he wasn't pulling away tremendously, then again, im told they can be quite flat.
I keep up with my mates Rover 220 GSi Turbo though, he's only running about 7psi of boost which could explain why!
It all depends how people drive though, getting the best out of their gears and not changing at 4grand all the time!

on QTR mile id say pretty equal , stick the 2 on a track and the CTR will run laps round a standard XE , a Let would probally have no issue's qtr mile but probally again the same on a track just not such a big gap between them.
