Hi,

Ive started wiring my ice into my car, and i was putting the headunit back in, and seem to have forced it too much and damaged the grey connector for the ariel.

Is there any way to fix this?

Regards

the core can be a bit of a twat, its much easier to buy an aerial extension cable and connect it to the other connector behind the carpet in the passenger footwell/kickpanel

Good lad, Ive just bought an aerial extension for my head unit as the aerial wire is about 1/4 of an inch too short (a 4m cable is a bit overkill tho ) and I just discovered how much I fooked the wire when I tried to stretch it a few weeks ago so if I can pull up the carpet a bit, I should be able to bypass the grey wire what ive knackered?

Cheers

Cheers for the thread mobymaster

You need to make your new lead from the connector im holding in the bottom pic. The top lead is the one that goes to the radio that uve damaged. To release the connector you need to pull it back, its a kinda spring loaded one.

As you can see it is different from the leads you can buy, so you can either chop off this connector and make your new one down here (much more room), or go to vauxhall and get a new lead from there to the back of the headunit, part number is 90513449

K cheers, Ive found this connector under the kick panel and I can get down to a vauxhall garage tomorrow. Will they be able to get this connector in for me or is there a website I can look on (ive tried autovaux but couldnt find one). Im also not sure if this is definately my problem lol, I plug the aerial into the back of my head unit, and I get the same old static as I get with no connector in at all, any other suggestions are welcome

If you plug in the aerial directly it wont work, because its not going to the aerial amplifier.

Vauxhall will have to order it in for you.

O Fuck, I got pissed off with the connector that goes inbetween kick panel and head unit and ended up snapping the connector off So either way I will need a new connector!

Whats this amplifier look like? Ive got a adaptor already that makes the plug fit in the back of the head unit, but I've never heard of fitting an amplifier before?

Cheers

the aerial amplifier is already wired into the corsa somewhere. not sure where. You just need to replace the cable you have damaged.

If you buy the part i said, if you route that cable yourself then you will get the extra room. The reason why its short is because of how vauxhall put it in their loom.

nothing special, but ive always believed that the aerial amp is in the base of the aerial....ive never checked like, but from tracing wires and reading around it seems to be somewhere around there

Ok, Ive just been to vauxhall, quoted that part number and the guy said it would take 23 fucking quid to have it! Im thinking about making my own connector out of the current cable, or could I just stick a fork in it lol - thts what I did to my old telly.

4m lol, which is overkill for the 1/4 inch it needed

The wire which goes from passenger kick panel to head unit has lost the connector that plugs into headunit, thats what I need to change, and theres nooo way im paying 23 quid for a new one.

.. Even though the vauxhall man ordered it since I said I'd definately have it Sucker
