just got this email from the guy:

There are many offers on ebay and I appreciate your intention to buy my car. There was an error in the listing regarding the item location. Although I'm registered in the UK, I recently moved in Lecce, Italy (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here.
The price for 2003 Mini Cooper S is £ 2,900. This price includes shipping to your location and insurance for the trip. The shipping is done by truck and it takes about a week to get there, depending on departure days of the truck.
The car is in a perfect cosmetic and engine conditions, and meticulously maintained. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, the engine doesn't smoke, runs and sounds awesome, never been into accidents and it's as advertised. The car comes with log book, keys and all documents to register the car in UK, and also a bill of sale in your name.
I will take care of custom before I will ship it so you will not have to pay any additional taxes when the car will arrive. It's a right-hand drive and meets United Kingdom DOT and EPA guidelines so there will be no problems regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car.

Specs: 2003 Mini Cooper S - 170 bhp, 1,600 cc Supercharged, 46,300 miles, silver exterior with a Black Union Jack Roof, 18" Alpina S-Spoke Alloys, Full Colour Satellite Navigation, 6 Speed Gearbox, manual transmission, Chilli Pack, Xenon Headlamps with Power Wash, heated leather seats, 6 CD Changer + Radio boost with upgraded speakers, etc.

Before shipping takes place you have to make a deposit for the entire amount. Please note that I will not ship until the deposit is made. You will inspect the car and if you don't want it, I will ship it back no later than 3 days from its arrival and you will get a full refund on the deposit.
We will use eBay to complete this transaction because I want to make the exchange in best conditions for both of us. If you are interested, I will have eBay to confirm you the transaction and payment details.
Look forward to hearing from you, Greg

What happens here is when he puts the cheque in the bank it will come up as cleared then a bit later on the cheque will bounce, he looses the car and has no money.
Big scam going on, was on the news last week.

You fool.

You should have told him you have family in Pescara and are flying out there for Christmas.

You can pay in full, in cash and collect in person.

Many thanks for your business, Mr Ebay fuckwit.

What he should do is ask the bank to verify the funds and just keep telling the buyer that the money hasn't cleared. What's he going to do over email? Nothing.
