And why?
We cannot decide between a widescreen pure flat screen which are big and take up a lot of space but for which we could afford a 32" (would take up a lot of space in our living room though) or a 26" LCD TV that would take up much less room but which is a few hundred £££ more!
£750 ish
£1,300 ish
Bare in mind we can afoord either but obviously no point wasting money! We are looking to get one in the Boxing Day etc sales

unless your spending a few k mate, dont bother about lcd/plasma screen, because the picture quality will be shite...you need around 3-4k for a decent picture on both lcd and plasma screens.
got for a nice 32" CRT sony telly....its the only thing sony can do right (although even their telly's arnt how they use'd to be ) and they last quite a while
Also, dont go for one with extra speakers and cack as it will sound just that....cack If you want dolby digital, then spend the cash on a propper system, with seperate AV decoder with a decent set of speakers and you cant go wrong

depends how much your spending 700 quid, which to be fair is pretty expensive for a CRT tv these days, on a CRT telly will get you something that is excellent in quality.....yet if you want a decent plasma/LCD you really need to be looking atleast 4k, something like a pioneer (their plasmas are amazing)....but in constrast, an excellent plasma will cost you anything from 7k upwards.
however, You pays your money and you takes your choice
edit - remember LCD screens are almost twice the price than plasmas...so unless you really need an LCD (dont see why ) then plasmas are just as good, apart from they do suffer from "burning" - although buy a cheap plasma and you will notice this more than spending abit more and getting something that is actually quality
