I will be selling my car by April 2005 as i get easily bored with cars as we all do and fancie a change.

Need somthing nippier than my sxi but also reasonable on insurance (IG 12-13 MAX)

What would you lot recommend... btw i dont want a VTR

Was thinking along the lines of a 2000-2001 Zetec S with 40-60k for £2.7-3.5k

or Pug 206 GTi 1999-2000 40-60k for £4-6k (would insurance hurt?)

Any other suggestions? Would pay upto £6k for somthing if it was in very good condition.....

But i think im leaning more towards the zetec s as ive heared their good handling cars and are like go-karts and IG8 is another posative for a quite nippy car...

A guy just up the street just bought one,

J reg black, imported (took 10months to import) 1.3 turbo, suppose to be very very nippy, he said he was racing a impretza and it couldnt get past him.

Thing is they look like shit.

How old? NCB? Try getting some ins quotes for the kind of cars you want and see what sort of money they want.

£5k he paid for his, dont know if it has any mods under the bonnet or whatever.
Hes put a set of momo alloys on it... personally it just doesnt look like nothing special, suppose it will show up some boys that dont know what it is and think its an ordanary sunny hehe

I think it would be worth you getting your own insurance to start with on a banger of a car at the moment. build that up then get a quicker car. remember a car is for getting from A-B not for racing on the street.

Zetec S's are nice little cars, and they do handle quite well. However I wouldn't expect too much performance wise. 2 of my mates have them and they're not that quick acceleration wise.
However they do look lovely in Impreial Blue, and thats the only colour I'd go for!

Thats good on a 106 gti, i like the 106 gti's with nimrods but its the interior that puts me off them

What if i keep my car for an extra year till april/june 2006 insure it in my name (IG 3) try and get a quote for around £1000 and by june 2006 ill have 1NCB ill be 21

Could get a decent quote for a 172 then....
Whats everyones opinions on zetec s's then?
Parkers specs are
1.6 Zetec S 3d 00
1596cc
101 bhp
113 mph
9.9 secs to 60mph
38.8 MPG

going by them specs that isnt nothing special, 1.4 sport territory.... would have thought it would at least do 60mph in 9secs in a 1.6 16v!
