am i write in thinking the only way to change the cambelt on the c20xe is by undoing the crank? the nova had a plastic one so could be bent into place, and this one is metal. how do you stop it spinning as it seems to be solid

Plastic crank?
You undo the 8 bolts holding the pully in place to get at the bottom part of the timing belt, the rest is clear and will just slide off.

if youve striped the splines use a torx bit thats too big, the bolts are only soft. windy gun is useful as well

i just replaced mine with cap head bolts.
6 of them.
4 unscrewed with proper male torx bit. the other 2 i drilled out, knocked off the pulley and undid the studs with fingers

Yea, you jam a screwdriver in it... Look in a Haynes manual.

put a socket on the flywheel with a bar so it locks it. the flywheel bolts will be tighter than the pulley bolts so shouldnt move
