Hey all,

Here's the story, I've just purchased a laptop and want to set it up so that only some people can access the full system, and others are restricted to certain files and applications

I've changed the user profiles to have an administrator and then another account which is a "limited account", what do I have to do to make it more restricted, as this only blocks access to certain system files.

Cheers folks.

You need to set up security policies for the users, first thing I think you will have to do is uncheck the "Use simple file sharing" option in Folder Options. Oh and the system needs to be NTFS.

Go to My Computer, and right-click on your C drive. Go to properties. What does it say next to File System?

There's a prog called Lock Folder XP which allows you to hide files and folders, and you need a password to unlock them, dunno how useful it would be in your scenario.

Actually you'd be better off with WinLock.

if you want it to be NTFS go to a command prompt and type CONVERT C:/FS:NTFS
