More like modifying for the sake of modifying.

The whole "scene" is typically split between cruisers and enthusiasts (with some overspill between the two).

Cars themselves have always been a fashion accessory, but it seems modifying is done solely with the desire to impress.

Every enthusiast knows how pathetic LED washer jets are and balk and cars that have them fitted, but for some reason this hasn't made it through to HGV drivers who think nothing of scattering LED's all around the front of their cab.

Yes and no, many people do love cars and driving, but there are quite a lot of people young and old people that use car as an extension of their ego, and to show off to women.

Remember, there's also the girls - typically from the North East that are nothing more than car whores.
They troll about the forums and chatrooms looking for drivers of modified cars. Maybe they've got a car themselves, most likely a 1.0 Corsa on a 2000 plate.

Worryingly, some of them are on this site...

Please point me in the direction of these women that are impressed by a Corsa - I wish to sow my seed.

Gay mod #2.

Wouldn't it be better to chip them so they've got the torque to hit their limiter a bit quicker?
Or give them the ability to pull over and get out of my fucking way. Thankyouplease

the point im trying to make is people buying cars liek 106's, renowned for their impressive handling, then stickin a big kit and 19" alloys on, ruining the trademark of the car! purely done to look good as a fashion accessory! and yeah iknwo before people kick off abotu show cars, fairplay but im on about people who use these as their everyday run around

it has been turning into a "one-upmanship" type of thing lately.. not that i really care, because that way you do get some awesome cars but it does mean that people are spending far too much cash on their car...

Show cars are pathetic.
They're nothing more than a demonstration of a person's ability to spend money.

Demo cars are commissioned by companies to promote their business and have a purpose.

Yes majourity of girls i kno have no idea about cars or modifying and do just use their car as an excessory i kno very few petrol head ladies.

I agree with joff, modifying is done with the intent to impress the majourity of times but it depends who your trying to impress, fellow petrol heads? or the opposite sex?

Spending money on a car isn't a bad thing. Everyone needs a hobby. I like to shower my car with trinkets, but I don't feel the need to make a post about my purchases every two minutes (still haven't got the watch battery OR the laces!!).

If people didn't spend money on their car, they'd just buy a big TV, some new Reebok pumps and a nice pocket watch. All material goods.

Do you know sumert you horny wench? your 100% right and it's because of my recent engine jobs that I'm currently having a wee bit of bother with some local scallies who saw a picture of my new engine on a local website and the stage by stage build photo series I did, they didn't like it that they could never fund this kind of project, jealousy in it's most powerful form, they just don't realise I think nothing of the whole thing, it's just an experiment to me and if they kindly walked upto me and said ' we were wondering if you'd give me a bit of advice about this........' then I'd help out as I enjoy doing so.
