Not sure if anyone remembers but my car was crunching when it went into second gear at high revs from first, it went in but always needed a bit of force.

Anyway last night at MK cruise it went into second and then popped back out, and now every time i go into second and accelerate it pops out of gear really harshly, it doesn't matter what revs i'm doing and even does it if my foot is hardly on the accelerator.

My car has only done 3,800 miles, so obviously its a warranty job, but i'd like to get some idea whats wrong before i take it to them, just incase they try and blame me, or my mods etc.

they will most likely blame your wheels and suspension, sounds like gear box is buggered

One thing to note tho........ If i keep pulling the gear stick back (when its in second) it doesn't pop out as easy (still does at higher revs, but not at low revs) So i was thinking maybe gear selector is broke

Lets hope your mods haven't made the warranty void! Because they'll probably try and get out of it if they can

Thats what my Dad reckons, the fact it stays in when you keep pulling it back seems like something needs adjusting as its out

Just took it to Vauxhall, and the top mechanic bloke came for a spin in it with me. He said it seems very strange and he's not seen anything like it for years.

Its booked in next monday for the whole week as they're stripping and investigating the whole box and repairing what is needed

Sassy - They're going to strip it totally to find out what the problem is

Mark - We are dealing with the insurance company of the carpark, looks like it should be sorted soon tho

Sounds dodgy as hell for a car with less than 4k

Good that they are sorting it for you though, as said alot of places will tell you to piss off if you've modified the car on warranty

Sounds like the retaining nut to me or a knackered syncro as mentioned!

My coupe had a box at 17k

My convertible will need one soon, change is clunky and rubbish.

They don't take much abuse.

I had a problem with my pug in terms of it not going into 3rd or reverse and jumping out of 1st when moving off. Pug cleaned the box and gave it fresh oil and was OKish after that. Was still a bit rubbish though.

You would think on a new car the box would be great.

I'd say selector is shagged, if it was the syncromesh causing problems you wouldnt be able to change gear, it would be cruuuuuuuuunch
