Got a 1.0l fan for the XE today....(lee says best ones for fitment)
I had a spare connector under bonnet that plugged right in..looks to be coming from rad.
Let car tick over with fan plugged in upto just over 100Deg but fan didn't kick in so guess it's the wrong plug.

Going to try and fit fan and wire a switch right into dash so I can turn it on manually when I want..

best way to go about this?????

Also got slight oil leak,..when car was ticking over had a look underneath and oil dripping from Oil filter bottom and a few drops from sump plug....So will get it into garage on monday and get it sorted hopefully..

Fitted my CC handles as well today..They are a wee bit dull and orangey so going to t-cut and polish to see if they come up better...

still waiting on
rear light and momo interior bits...and source a drivers seat...
got 2 front jacking poin covers and getting 2 rear ones tomorrow...so going to spray them up (cheers eck)

need to get tigerseal too for skirts so sealed right along...

The fan never used to cut in on the Civic so it over heated really easy

Me and Warren wired it straight into a headlight so could be turned on with lights

try replacing the fan switch in the rad or check that it is plugged in

if you look at the front of the car it is on the left side of the rad at the bottom on the side of it

Isnt there a temp sensor sender type thing on bottom left of the radiator? There was on my GSi this went straight to the fan motor and when it buggered up on mine I just looped it so it ran all the time

If looking from the front.
at bottom lhs of rad there is a temp sensor with 2 wires coming out of it....very short wires though...

You think this gets plugged right into fan motor?????? and what else?

Yes thats the bi-metalic strip fan sender unit - I had to replace this on mine when it stopped working - iirc that should be it the 2 varient metals contact when the heat makes them expand thus providing the electrical contact and boom on comes your fan

Try connecting that up, if it still doesnt work then try looping the circuit together with a length of wire - if it comes on then the sensor units fucked

If theres no plug then some chumps cut it off - either get a new sender unit (couple of quid from halfrauds) or just bodge it with come cable and electrical conection blocks

Yeah no plug on end

Goto halfrauds and ask for a sender unit for rad??? yeah??? see i'm new to this..

could just bodge it with connectors..

Not even tried fan in bay yet to see how it's going to fit...Thin I'll cable tie it on........

Pah ur useless Bet I could fit it

Think theres different ones for different rads theres maybe a code on it cant really remember it was like 4 yrs ago I done mine

Deffo think thats what you need to do!!! Id try connecting the fan off the car to those 2 wires and see what happens or do you know anyone with a multimeter???

Check the readings from cold and again when the cars heated to when you would expect the fan to come on - see if the reading changes
