On a more serious note...Yes because you have to be covered to take paying passengers, and also as it is a business you will also need special insurance.

surely if you were a personal chauffer for someone with more money than sense then all they would do is add you to their existing insurance policy on the car?

I know someone with a limo and he doesnt have to pay special insurance, its just insured as a normal car would be

Right, me and a mate of mine are going into this business in a couple if months as soon as we find the correct vechile.

You can not just buy a car and be a chauffeur, you need to take a test.
you alos need public libilaty insurance.
Business motor insurance.

PL Insurance, is for any injury/loss sustained to persons or property from your actions. The Public Liablity isnt a normal type of cover, and will be harder to find, as most insurers offer "Packages" that are for shops, contractors e.t.c.

I think an insurance broker would help you more on this, so go and speak to them..

Your car insurance isnt covering you for any hire or reward. Therefore you must find a policy that covers hire and reward.

Yet again, that can be found through a broker. A broker can also give advise, but general insurers do not. Therefore a commercial broker does suit your needs

Hope that helps anyway
