Just now im busy stripping down a tired old 2.0 16v XE engine. Its going to be transplanted into a corsa which will be stripped out and running nitrous.
It needs alot of work but should be up and running in a few months.
This is the state we got it in..
First of all the loom had to be stripped and tagged to find out which sensor did what. This wasnt easy as i had nothing to go on. Got there in the end.
As i stripped it down i noticed the no3 piston had marks on the crown and the bore was scored where the knackered piston was rubbing up and down
the head was also pourous and had cracked the head. The person who had it before obviously was changing the plugs and summin dropped into the chamber which came into contact with the head and valve, cracking the head as well .... a job for glen at autohead. after it being fixed it was ported and flowed. Its now built up with a nicely painted inlet manifold
the pistons were removed and the bores honed to take away most of the scoring,
new pistons went in last night along with new rings and big end shells
the block was also painted as well as the sump and various other bits and pieces.
Just put the head on...
Camshafts are on as well
and so is the lightend and balanced fly wheel
Shes getting there.... had a problem with the 5th camshaft carrier... threads were stripped and the nuts not tightening... gotta retap it and she'll be back on. Still gotta paint the crackshaft pully il do it when i time the car.
Its getting there.

its more or less simple dude.... just gotta be meticulous in taking stuff apart, labeling them so they go back on the place they came off, knowing the torque settings and the procedures of refitting, ie spot of oil here, keeping the holes covered so no dust etc gets in.
Ive been doing stuff like this since i was 9... well thats when i first started.

Gave the box a quick spray in halfords alloy paint.. good shit... came up well... ao i decided to paint some other stuff.
Once thats sorted il start stripping the car and purchase that mount from lee..... Its coming along quicker than i thought...
I tell ya... if ya work on your car at nights.... a crate of wife beater... helps you work rest and get laid....
