I've got 40's on my softstars, their really slim and pretty much the same size as my orignal 13" steel wheels with huge tyres

I paid £80 each for my Continental Conti Sport 2 Contacts from a local garage

When I bought the wheels from LMF they had brand new 55 profile tyres on them

55's

But I did a deal with a local garage to swap them for 40 profiles along with £80

40's

the lower the number the slimmer the tyre so it makes the rim look bigger usually but i'd go with 45 as there's not much in it between that and 40 and they come out cheaper overall

At 60mm 195/40's are best as you get great clearance, only three manufacturer's that I know of do 195/40's - Pirelli P Zero's - about £75, Continental Contact Sport 2's - about £80 and Dunlop's SP9000 - about £90+ each (these prices are at Mr Tyre branches)

^^ Yes the lower the number the slimmer the tyre IN RELATION TO THE WIDTH. 195/40 is skinnier than 205/40...

I've got 195/40/16 and they're smaller than the factory 185/60/14.

I prefer my 45's with having an XE in, softens the ride a tad more!

Agreed, the ride is a lot comfier with 45 profiles but I only chose them because:

1) They were v.cheap (PZero Neros)
B) I didn't even think to get a price on the 40 profiles

if arch clearence is tight then the 40s pay for themsleves

The Contis are what ive got and ive got no complaints, mate had some dunlops on his 106 and they were also very good!

There is alot of difference in the look of the 45 compared to the 40 if you ask me the 45 looks abit to fat for the size of rim to me!
