I don't know what to do.

Went to a garage to see a clio 172 went for a test drive checked it over, it all seems fine and really nice to drive.

Its an X reg with 21k miles on the clock its up for £7495.

I have a 1.4 corsa 1994 100k miles bodykit etc etc he said he would give me £800 for it.

I just don't know what to do should I buy it for £6695 with 6 months guarentee and they take my car.

or I have seen a private sale 172 30k on clock Y reg for £6400 fsh.

The question is do you think I should buy from a garage and pay more or go private, also how much do you reckon I would get for my corsa privately?

I'm thinking about getting the private one and getting an AA check done on it. But I like the fact of 6 months guarentee.

What would you do?

Do you have any technical data on this, or any scientific reasoning behind it?

I've never had any problems with flats spots on the Cup, and the gearbox is excellent.

To be honest i've not heard problem with gear boxes but more of a rattle that occurs from the underside of the car.

That'll be the "4k Rattle" something to do with the centre section on the exhaust, apparently a few have developed it within the first few thousand miles. Mines done 33k and still has the original exhaust and no problems. Build quality on mine is pretty good aswell.

That could have been why renault changed the gearbox twice then as they thought it could be something else, i know that it got very hard to put it into 3rd gear as i had a job when driving it

CCA,

Depends on the terms of warranty. it might only cover parts and you have to pay labour..... you have to be very careful !!

The garage sale is including my car £6695.
The private sale without my car £6400

I reckon I could sell my car for £800 privately

So I will be paying £5600 privately.

I know what you mean about the guarentee, i'm going to search for another garage, cliosport.net reckon its way too expensive.

whats the spec of your Corsa brad??

have raced many a clio in my ol Astra, and never had an edge on any of them, most had a very slight edge over me!!

And the cups pull pretty cleanly away! A match for a CTR I reckon....

if you are going privaste make sure you take a mechanic with you !

You can point problems out and knock money off the purchase to correct.

My mrs got a p reg corsa with history and about 43 onk on the clock for £1300. I told the bloke that the head gasket has gone
