Basically I'm in my first year. Doing 6 modules worth 20 credits each. I need to pass in 100 credits. So in essence I can afford to fail one module. BUT it looks very likely I'm going to fail two modules.

I'm doing Geography and Economic joint honours - its the economic modules I'm going to fail.

I would like to switch to straight geography for my 2nd year. Will they let me do this? If not will I be allowed to enrol again as a 1st year student and take straight geography.

Bit of a long question I know, but my tutors are useless and never there, so need some indication asap to set my mind at rest, before I go see them. Thanks.

If you arent allowed you should be allowed to redo the year doing just geography, although it might be different for your course but we need to at least pass every unit

It depends on the regulations that your uni imposes - on my course, I can only take each exam 3 times, after that you're screwed. But if you retake anything, the maximum mark you can get is a pass (40%).

I failed 2 out of 4 exams in my first year and did them again (and still failed them) so I took the whole year again. And managed to get through by carrying one...

I should imagine that they may let you switch in your second year, as long as you pass your first year. If you fail, you'll either have to retake at the next sitting or start your first year again (on whichever course you want to do, provided they will allow you to change).

Of course, I'm sure they won't mind taking your money! Speak to your tutor? What uni is it?

I also think I might of read this in my book... ? something like you have to get over 40% average over the 120 credits, but only need 30% average over the 100 creds...

So basically you only need to pass 100 creds worth, providing you get 40% average over the 120 creds...

That's what I hope anyway

Fuck man, you've got it easy. That's some dodgy uni

We have 10 modules a year, 12 credits each and have to pass them all At the minute i've got a maths module which i really can't do and if i don't pass it they will not let me go on placement next year. That's what they say but they make there on rules up as they go along
