Depends on what setup on TB u have
you want to talk to Vauxgirl the got rid of there 1.6 16v on TB for a standard 2lt
i have raced a few 1.6 on the diblas thing one which was supose to be powerful but always pulled away (for about 40-100 never did off the mark)

Brosters Corsa with its 138bhp 1.6 NON BODIES is very quick i would say it would be very interesting to watch that gowith a stock 2.0 Corsa.
Power to weight must be preety much the same.

true the 1.6 will never put out the torque....
BUT power to weight is also very important thing to consider.

^trottle boddies would give a much better troque spread than the lexmaul broster has...
i have a c16xe with manztel and its very quick.... dunno if to continue with this though or just go for the stock 2.0less hassle approach....

Oh indeed they would but then you cover the old realibilty issue.
Stock 2.0 - quick but weighty......... looking at the amount of XE'd Corsa's id fancy something a little different.
just my thinking

a simple TB'd C16XE will still not keep up with a C20XE, it would be very close to get it to C20XE beating performance ya gotta spend the kinda cash that would cover a C20XE conversion. Dont forget a 215bhp C16XE still dosnt have the tourqe of a standard C20XE

i bet andyH's corsa would wipe the floor with a standard 2.0 even though it only has 148lbft of torque..... remember i said 0-60 0-100.
you get the torque for more of the time with TB's.... dont just look at the figures
although havening said all that i think i will go with the 2.0 just to save myself the hassle of owning an extemely modifyed car...

well a 106 gti with simpole breating mods will give a 2ltr corsa a run for its money am i correct? i can give the 106 gti a good run for its money, depends my cars got no insides and you always need to keep the revs up to get anywhere. id say a tb's corsa with a little strippage would be a good match for the 2ltr.

Sorry but a fully loaded TB'd up 1.6 would chew a 2.0. Because a the torque wouldnt be much in it.......
Plus the engine is alot lighter.

having lifted both the 1.6 and the 2ltr id say weight differences wouldnt really make much difference to be honest. a fully loaded tb'd 1.6 would beat a standard 2ltr tho yes.

i bet there is a significant difference.
Im waiting on an answer back...
I know a GSi weighs 960kg with the C16XE (my example)
but i would guess the 20xe is more than 100kg heaviler due to gearbox and block differences.

agreed top end the 20xe will have more go - but off the line to 100 sorry the 1.6 on tb's would chew it.
i watched a 106GTi on tb's tail an 230bhp astra coupe turbo was hot on his heals.

Andys 215bhp Vs Standard XE 150bhp
the only mild tunes 1.6 i have seen to be quick is LeeM old one around 150bhp mark
but the post says which is faster
Corsa 1.6 on throttle bodys (no nother mod's stated)
Or
Standard XE
Answer - XE

i only mentioned andys cause greasy said "Dont forget a 215bhp C16XE still dosnt have the tourqe of a standard C20XE"
some people get carried away by numbers... its like saying donna's old gsi would be quicker than a 2.0 cause it had 161BHP(which i dont believe was acurate BTW)....
oh and BTW when i say C16XE on TB's i mean with full managment and proper exhaust WTF use would they be without these

150bhp?!? whats been done to it to get that, thats rentons one isnt it?
put them up a hill and the torque will show, but its the same with a civic vti, 1.6 with 160bhp, they shift and they have bugger all torque

I reckon the throttle bodied 1.6 would definitely win 0-60 and 0-100! It would out handle it as well!!

Andys did a 6.04 0-60 and a 14.65 1/4 (baring in mind was was 200+bhp at the time)
we now need times for a standard XE Corsa

Strip is fair comment but drivability on the a and b roads - the 1.6 would win hands down to be honest.
